Mustafa Battal

Omar Droubi

Writer and director from Syria. Twice selected for the Norwegian Best Short Film competition, he has also sold his documentary Flukten to the Red Cross, TV and two municipalities in Norway.

In 2011, after releasing a rebellious hip-hop song criticizing the Assad regime, Mustafa fled Syria and sought refuge in Norway, where he has lived ever since.

Omar is a Syrian/Swedish filmmaker with a decade of experience and a documentary filmmaking degree from Göteborgs Folkhögskola. His award-winning short Bredvid Eiffeltornet (2021) explores an Afghan refugee’s struggle in Paris. Omar has also worked as a film mentor for the Noncitizen project, guiding refugees in filmmaking, and collaborated with renowned Swedish film institutions such as Film i Väst and the Swedish Film Institute. Beyond film, he runs a YouTube channel with 40k subscribers and 4M+ views, creating travel vlogs and video essays on culture, identity, and home. His work has screened at festivals in Sweden and beyond.

Daniel Nils Roberts

Writer / actress from Norway. Starred in in the 2016 best short film in Norway Bird Hearts (Fuglehjerter).

Daniel is an award-winning filmmaker who marries inventive storytelling with quirky humour. He was previously a Senior Producer at BBC Ideas, and Creative Director at boutique digital production house Angel Sharp Media. He has directed multiple factual shorts for the BBC, garnering nominations for Webby and Broadcast Digital Awards. His debut feature documentary EatenFish is currently in development with the Oscar-nominated producer Anne Köhncke (Final Cut for Real Norway). The film is a creative and colourful dive into the world of refugee cartoonist Ali Dorani, and has been presented at IDFA Forum, Nordisk Panorama and Sheffield Doc/Fest MeetMarket in 2023, and developed at Documentary Campus Masterschool. The project has received support from The Norwegian Film Institute, ARTE France, Filmkraft Rogaland, Fritt Ord Foundation and SVT.
